Welcome to the Colonel Matthew Singleton Chapter of the South Carolina Society, Sons of the American Revolution!  We hope you found us looking to become a member, or looking for a bit of American History.  Either way, our objectives are promoting American Revolutionary History, patriotism, and providing educational opportunities in our three county area.

 Whether you are looking to join or moving to our area and looking for a new chapter, you will find our programs many and varied.  Members are direct descendants of the patriots who achieved the independence of the American people. 

The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) are direct descendants of those patriots that achieved the independence of the American people. The objectives of our organization are intended to perpetuate a more profound reverence for the principles of the government founded by our forefathers. All the while, promoting fellowship and unity amongst patriot descendants. 

Who We Are

The SAR is a 501c3 non-profit organization seeking to maintain and extend the following:  American Freedom, appreciation for Patriotism, respect for national symbols, the value of American citizenship, all as a unifying force of "e pluribus unum." We exist to promote the purposes expressed in the Preamble of the United States Constitution.

Our Purpose

The Col. Matthew Singleton Chapter meetings are held Quarterly on the second Tuesday of the month at The Restaurant at Second Mill, 2390 Broad St. Sumter, SC 29150. Social hour starts at 6pm with the meeting starting promptly at 7pm.


2025 Meetings:  July 8th, October 14th, Dec 9th.

Where we meet

Our chapter hosts two annual events:


Battle of Fort Watson Commemoration on April 26th, 2025 at 11am.


General Thomas Sumter Commemoration this year on August 2nd, 2025 at 11am.
